The ArtBreak Festival is just around the corner, Monday, April 24 - Sunday, April 30 at the Shreveport Convention Center. Our goal is to provide high-quality, integrated art activities focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math for the 75,000 students and families that ArtBreak serves! There are several ways you may become involved, starting with as a Lead Teacher to performing and providing an informance, and some things in between! Please read on to select your area of interest.
You may participate in ArtBreak in one of the following ways:
1. 3rd Grade Days Hands-On Lead Artist/Instructor: Lead Artist throughout the week, engaging students in a Hands-On Art activity that connects the Arts to STEM, language arts and/or history. There will be an Artist “Orientation of Expectation” for all lead Artists and assistants at the Central ARTSTATION, SRAC, 801 Crockett St., Tuesday, April 11, FROM 4:00 – 5:30. You must attend this “Orientation of Expectations” workshop before you will be eligible to teach. We are only able to select a certain number of artists to work ArtBreak. You must commit to work an entire day, teaching six (6) 20-minute classes starting at 8:00 am (prep and training your assistant) with classes starting at 9:00 am - 1:15 pm and clean up from 1:15 – 2:00 pm. Artists are expected to clean and restock the supplies for the next day.
The schedule for CELEBRATE EDUCATION: ArtBreak Festival Third Grade Days and KTBS-3 Summer Reading Festival is as follows:
Monday, April 24, 2017 8:00 am – 2:00 pm 6 hours
Tuesday, April 25, 2017 8:00 am – 2:00 pm 6 hours
Wednesday, April 26, 2017 8:00 am – 2:00 pm 6 hours
Thursday, April 27, 2017 8:00 am – 2:00 pm 6 hours
Friday, April 28, 2017 9:00 am – 1:00 pm 4 hours
TOTAL WEEKDAY HOURS 28 hours
2. Weekend Artist: As a weekend artist teaching, the same “prescribed” activity throughout the entire weekend, Friday, April 28 – Sunday, April 30. The schedule for the ArtBreak Public Festival will be as follows:
Friday, April 28, 2017 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm 5 hours
Saturday, April 29, 2017 9:30 am – 8:30 pm 11 hours
Sunday, April 30, 2017 11:30 am – 5:30 pm 6 hours
TOTAL WEEKEND Hours 22 HOURS
3. Performances/Informances: Art Organizations that focus on performances that involves, engages or are for young people in the community are encouraged to perform at ArtBreak. We are seeking 25-minute informance to include a performance and some audience interaction with the instructor, director or choreographer on stage explaining different movements or different approaches to music, dance or theatre. This will also be an opportunity for Art Organizations to solicit enrollment of students and/or families into the classes that are offered. SRAC will pay $150 for this 25 minute performing informance. We will need you to arrive at least 30 minutes early, as the schedule at ArtBreak is very flexible. Four time slots are available. Please rank the available times with what suits your scheduling best, and we will do our very best to accommodate one of the four times, but we must acknowledge that student performances are scheduled first to accommodate the needs of the school schedule. Times that are available are as follows: ArtBreak can only accommodate a limited number of these Performances so please sign up early!

Mark your calendar to attend the Artists Orientation at the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, 801 Crockett St., Downtown, Shreveport.
Remember you may NOT be eligible to work at ArtBreak as an artist unless you attend.
This does not apply to Performances. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate a select number of Artists to work ArtBreak!
ArtBreak SCHOOL BOOTH COMPETITION
PRIZE WILL GO TO winning schools visual art program!
ArtBreak School Exhibit Booths are the perfect place to show off YOUR school and display the talents, projects, awards, creations, and programs that are unique to your school. Exhibit Booths are placed throughout the Convention Center and are moved around annually to provide maximum public exposure on a rotating basis!
